Structured Data
Definition
Structured data is a standardized format for providing information about a page and classifying the page content. It uses vocabularies from Schema.org to describe entities (people, places, products, events) in a way that search engines can programmatically understand. Structured data can be implemented in three formats: JSON-LD (recommended by Google), Microdata, and RDFa. When properly implemented, structured data enables rich results in Google Search — star ratings, FAQ dropdowns, recipe cards, event details, and more. These enhanced listings can increase click-through rates by 20-35%. Common types include Organization, LocalBusiness, Product, Article, FAQPage, HowTo, and BreadcrumbList.
