Rich Snippets (Rich Results)
Definition
Rich snippets (now called rich results by Google) are enhanced search result listings that display additional visual information beyond the standard title, URL, and description. They are generated from structured data (schema markup) on your pages. Examples include star ratings for reviews, recipe cards with cooking time and calories, FAQ dropdowns, how-to steps, product prices and availability, and event dates. Rich results can increase your click-through rate by 35% on average. Not all structured data qualifies for rich results — Google has specific guidelines for each type. Use the Rich Results Test to check eligibility.
