Featured Snippet
Definition
A featured snippet is a special search result that appears at the top of Google's organic results (often called 'position zero'). It displays a direct answer to the user's query, extracted from a web page, along with the page's title and URL. Featured snippet types include: paragraph (a text block answering a question), list (numbered or bulleted steps), table (data in rows and columns), and video (YouTube clips). Winning a featured snippet can dramatically increase visibility and traffic — some studies show 35%+ CTR for featured snippets. To optimize for featured snippets: directly answer common questions in your content, use clear heading structures, format answers in the snippet-preferred format (paragraph, list, or table), and keep answers concise (40-60 words for paragraph snippets).
