Crawlability

Definition

Crawlability refers to a search engine's ability to access and navigate through the pages on your website. If a page isn't crawlable, Google can't read its content and it won't appear in search results. Crawlability depends on several factors: your robots.txt configuration, server availability, URL structure, internal linking, redirect chains, and crawl budget. Common crawlability issues include pages blocked by robots.txt, broken internal links (404 errors), redirect loops, server errors (500), extremely slow page responses, and orphan pages (not linked from anywhere). Tools like Google Search Console's Coverage report help identify crawlability problems.
